This is a question that must run through the minds of many people who owing to age, disability or caring responsibilities feel that their days of using the library service are over. We are pleased to say that this is definitely not the case. The Home Library service is there for people who fall into this category.
There are various ways in which this can be done:
The Home Library individual service is where a neighbour, friend or family member can choose and collect material on people`s behalf. The person requiring the service makes an arrangement for someone to visit the library for them.
The Home Library service via volunteers is where a library will take the contact details and pass to the local Home Library service contact, who will arrange a visit in their own home by appointment, to discuss their needs, the services we can offer, and the type of materials to be delivered. Once this information has been taken arrangements will be made for volunteers to visit on a regular basis (usually monthly).
The Home Library service for residents of some sheltered housing, residential or nursing homes. A selection of material is delivered and left on the premises for a period of time (usually twelve weeks).
RNIB Talking Book Service. A member of staff will visit by appointment to fill in a form which is then passed to the RNIB who arrange for talking books to be delivered by the post.
As you can see there is a Home Library service from Essex Libraries to ensure that you can keep on reading or listening to the type of books you love or maybe something completely different.
If this is this the service for you then all you need to do is give us a call for more information on 0845 603 7628.
